The BATL Plan (The Battle Plan) is a common sense approach to lifelong weight control that begins with behavior modification, positive reinforcement, and medical knowledge. You will learn how and why you can control your weight (rather than weight controlling you).

The BATL Plan is a behavior-based, medically-sound approach to weight loss. Until you learn how to change your behavior, you are essentially doomed to a lifetime of very harmful yo-yo dieting.

Yo-yo Dieting is the very harmful practice of going on a fast diet with each "heavy period," only to gain the weight back, and more... only to try another painful diet... followed by weight gain... painful diet... weight gain...

Yo-yo dieting creates a vicious cycle which eventually leads to giving up forever. You eventually accept that you will be "heavy" forever. It doesn't have to be that way.

BATL (pronounced "Battle") stands for Behavioral Adipose Tissue Loss. Adipose tissue is the medical name for fat. Clearly, the loss of adipose tissue should be the only concern of any weight loss program. You certainly don't want to decrease any of your body's protein (muscle, immunoglobulins, and more). Muscle is the very thing that burns the fat. Immunoglobulins fight infection and cancer. Stay healthy. Focus on losing only fat. This program teaches you how to maximize your fat loss.

BATL Strategies (Battle Strategies) are behaviorial techniques that allow you to overcome triggers and weak moments during your program. You will learn to rely on these strategies to keep you focused on your plan.

The BATL Plan was written and developed by John E. Strange, M.D., a medical doctor, who lost 110 pounds (30 to go) on the program.
